Night at the aquarium

The CBE Arctic team brought worm forests to the night at the aquarium event in Bergen!

Recently, Christian and Brenda teamed up with colleagues from the Centre for Deep-Sea Research to host a stand at Bergen Aquarium’s “Night at the Aquarium” event. Surrounded by dimly lit aquariums, the public was invited to discover Norway’s deep seas through an interactive exhibit featuring information on hydrothermal vents, the ROV Ægir 6000, and of course our beloved worm forests.

Brenda played recreate the food web with visitors, offering deep-sea prizes to those who figured out who eats what at a worm forest, and Christian sported perhaps the world’s first tubeworm crown by putting a diorama on his head. We were very happy for the opportunity to shine a light on the deep sea for the general public and hope to have inspired the next generation of deep-sea scientists!
